UG Admission Process

Candidate seeking admission to under graduate level program such as BMS, B.Com ( BAF), B.Com ( BBI) & B.Com ( BFM) shall have passed 12th standard examination of Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and has secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at the first attempt (40% in the case of reserve category).

Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the affiliated college shall have to register himself or herself with the University of Mumbai. Until then the admission shall be considered as provisional.

Candidate has to submit original SSC and HSC examination passing mark sheet, certificate, junior college transfer certificate and other relevant documents as required as per University guidelines. The candidates admission shall be treated as provisional till the receipt of the documents.

At any stage during the course of the studies if it is found that information and documents submitted by the students are forged, false or misleading, such an act will result in cancellation of admission and his/ her expulsion from the college.

Please note that candidates admission will be confirmed in the merit list which is displayed in line with University guidelines.

Admission Procedure (MCA)

Admission to Master of Computer Application (MCA) Programme is carried out as per the guidelines of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra State.

The candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed minimum three years duration Bachelors Degree awarded by university recognized by University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra state only); having Mathematics or Statistics asone of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination and obtained a non-zero score at the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Competent Authority, Govt. of Maharashtra.

The candidates, who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), Bachelor of Science (Computer Science / Information Technology) degree courses are not required to fulfill the requirement of having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.

Institute of Management & Computer Studies having present intake of 120 for MCA program. Out of which 51% of the seats are reserved under Minority category and 20% of the seats are reserved under Institute Level category. The Department of Higher & Technical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra have issued notification for admission process for this program for the academic year 2019-20 through MAH-MCA-CET. The detailed procedure for submission of application for admission to the program will be notified by the DTE.

Candidates are requested to submit the attested photocopy of following certificates with application form at the time of submission of form.

  • MAH-MCA-CET score card 2019.
  • Statement of marks & certificate of SSC, HSC and Graduation (all semester / year).
  • Migration and Provisional Passing Certificate for those candidates who passed from any University other than University of Mumbai.
  • Certificate of Indian Nationality (School Leaving Certificate indicating the Nationality of the candidate as a Indian / Valid Indian Passport/ Birth Certificate of the candidate indicating the place of birth in India.)
  • Domicile Certificate (if applicable), clearly indicating the place of permanent residence of the candidate or father or mother or husband.
  • Caste/Tribe Validity Certificate (if applicable)
  • Non Creamy Layer Certificate valid up to 31st March 2020 (if applicable).
  • Certificates in Proforma A, B1, B2, F, F1, G1, G2, H, J, K, L & O as applicable (Mentioned in DTE brochure).
  • Any other relevant document. After verification if provisionally confirmed in the Institute, candidate has to submit the following documents.
  • All original certificates mentioned above with attested photocopies of the same.
  • Affidavit for Minority Status on a ₹.100/- nonjudicial stamp paper in institute specified format (only for Linguistic Minority candidates) Gap Certificate for the break after completion of Graduation examination on a ₹.100/-non judicial stamp paper in institute specified format (if applicable).
  • AICTE Anti-Ragging undertaking by student as well as parents on ₹.20/-non-judicial Stamp Paper duly notarized in AICTE specified format. + Physical Fitness Certificate from a registered Medical Practitioner.

+ Five recent passport size colour photographs.

Eligibility Criteria (MCA)

Eligibility Criteria of Cap Quota Candidates:

The candidate should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Passed with minimum of 50% marks in *aggregate or equivalent CGPA ( 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Person with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor’s degree awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level or higher level examination.

OR

Appeared for the final year examination of any Bachelor’s degree to be awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level or higher level examination. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Degree examination with minimum of 50% marks in *aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Person with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only).

*Aggregate marks means the grand total marks obtained by the candidate in subject based on which the class declaration is made in the particular University form which the candidate is passing the qualifying examination. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100. In case the percentage of marks in aggregate comes in fraction then percentage of marks in aggregate shall be rounded off e.g 44.50, 44.99 % shall be rounded to 45 and 44.01, 44.99 shall be rounded to 44 marks.

Eligibility Criteria For Hindi Speaking Minority Quota & Institute Level Quota Candidates:

The candidate should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Passed with minimum of 50% marks in *aggregate or equivalent CGPA in any Bachelor’s degree awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level or higher level examination.

OR

Admission Procedure (MMS/MBA)

  1. Candidates desirous of seeking admission to the MMS course must take the common entrance test MH-CET conducted by DTE Maharashtra state. OR Candidates must have for GMAT/MAT/CAT/ATMA/XAT/CMAT Examination. OR Candidates must have appeared for CET conducted by an agency approved by Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS) for the academic year.
  2. Students should follow the admission procedure laid down by www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria (MMS/MBA)

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by university recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates belonging to backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only).

Anti Ragging

As per the notification of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) dated 25.03.2009 in connection with prevention and prohibition of ragging in technical institutions, universities including deemed to be universities imparting technical education, notify that :

All the concerned persons are requested to make note that ragging is totally banned and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging is liable to be punished.

Maharashtra State Act against ragging

Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999 which is in effect from 15th May 1999 has the following provisions for Action against Ragging:

  • Ragging within or outside of any educational institution is prohibited.
  • Whosoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets, or propagates ragging within or outside any educational institution shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term up to 2 years and/ or penalty which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
  • Any student convicted of an offence of ragging shall be dismissed from the education for five years from the date of order of such dismissal.
  • Whenever any student or, as the case may be, the parent of guardian or a teacher of an educational institution complaints, in writing, of ragging to the head of the educational institution, the head of educational institution shall, without prejudice to the foregoing provisions within seven days of the receipt of the complaint, enquire into the matter mentioned in the complaint and if, prima facia, it is found true, suspend the student who is accused of the offence, and shall, immediately forward the complaint to the police station having jurisdiction over the area in which the educational institution is situated, for further action. Where on enquiry by the head of the educational institution, it is found that there is no substance, prima facie, in the complaint received; he/she shall intimate the fact, in writing, to the complainant. The decision of the head of the educational institution shall be final.
  • If the head of the educational institution fails or neglects to act in the manner specified in section as above when a complaint of ragging is made, such person shall be deemed to have abetted the offence and shall, on conviction, be punished as provided for in section as above.
